The twin engine kart Build
august - october 2023
A three-part series documenting a massive restoration project. We took a twin-engine kart from absolute ruins and rebuilt it to brand-new condition. We poured blood, sweat, and gears into this beast, only to have it stolen just as the project was finished.

The trip that started it all. This was the first proper wild camping expedition for The Wild Lads. Nestled deep in the heart of West Scotland, we braved the freezing winter conditions, and Loch Invar did not disappoint providing the perfect, rugged backdrop for our debut adventure.

A chaotic expedition spanning three separate locations and two countries. We started in Scotland with four Wild Lads, hitting Loch Grannoch and returning to Loch Invar. But by the time we reached the caves of England, only two of us remained. What happened on the road to cause the split? You’ll have to see for yourself.

Proof that the best plans are often no plans at all. What started as a simple midnight pitstop in Scotland evolved into an unplanned two-night expedition. With both a tent and a campervan in the convoy, we set up camp and let the adventure take over.
Loch Grannoch

The lads rated this trip a perfect 10/10. We spent three nights deep in the remote Scottish wilderness at a location that had it all: a private beach, dense forests, and towering mountains. We even had an unexpected encounter with a reptile—a rare find for a Scottish November!

We returned to the Esk with a unique plan: to camp "troll-style" directly beneath the bridge. The camp was memorable, but the journey home was a nightmare. We ran completely out of fuel in the middle of nowhere, forcing us to undertake a long hike across the border just to find petrol. A true test of patience and endurance.

We took exploration to the next level by hunting for caves in the dead of night. Navigating the darkness, we encountered crazy rushing rivers and discovered stunning underground waterfalls. The mix of adrenaline and the raw power of the water made this a truly unforgettable chapter.

Our longest camp to date. This five-night trip marked the moment we shifted from casual documenting to producing "real" videos. However, it was a steep learning curve unfortunately, the majority of the audio and footage was unusable. What remains is a rare glimpse into a massive trip that didn’t quite make the cut.

A return to our local stomping grounds for a night in the fell. This trip was all about honing our skills—we spent the time exploring the deep woods and building our own natural shelters for the night.

b&m 24 hour challenge

The first-ever official challenge video from The Wild Lads. We headed to Brockholes for a 24-hour survival mission with a twist: a tiny budget and a set of mental rules. We had to build, eat, and sleep using only what we could scavenge from the aisles of B&M. It was a battle of wits and endurance—click to find out who won and who took the loss.

We returned to our beloved Yordas Cave, but this time we had a specific mission in mind. The goal? To turn a dark, damp cavern into a functioning hot dog restaurant. We hauled in the gear, fired up the stoves, and brought fast food to the underworld.

Ryan returned to the lineup for a grueling expedition at Honister Pass. This was no walk in the park—it was a physically brutal trek that tested our endurance. But the struggle paid off with insane views from the top. A tough climb, but absolutely worth it.

An incredible night spent deep within the historic slate mines of Cathedral Cave. The atmosphere in the main cavern was breathtaking, but the real adventure lay deeper in the system. We explored the flooded tunnels and stumbled upon a sunken boat—an eerie discovery hidden in the darkness.

On the hottest day of the year, we escaped the heat by hitting the water. We loaded up our kayaks and paddled out into Thirlmere to find the perfect spot: a beautiful, secluded island in the heart of the Lake District. A perfect summer expedition.
